ʻAlawī
Scientific Name: Loxops mana
Found: Endemic to the island of Hawai‘i
Population Estimate as of 2024: Around 12,000
IUCN Status: Endangered
About: Also known as the Hawai'i Creeper ʻalawī typically form mixed species hunting parties that forage among native trees. Creeping along branches, bark, and leaves they glean spiders, caterpillars, and other arthropods from the vegetation.
Adults are olive-green above, buff below, and sport a black eye mask.

Their song is a shrill single noted chirp that sometimes has a flare at the end.
Its Hawaiian name, ʻalawī, was rediscovered/reinstated in 2017 after being lost to history.
